PRESCHOOL (MIXED)

Our preschool gymnastics program is geared towards kids aged between 18 months to 5 years old. The aim of this program is for children to develop motor skills, coordination, agility, autonomy and self-esteem, all in a secure and stimulating environment. Kids are encouraged to explore different elements while progressing at their own rhythm, throughout different circuits.

Classes are 45 minutes, once or twice a week. For the 18 months to 2 years-old, a parent must be present with the child to accompany him in the gymnasium. For the 3 to 4 years old, the parents can choose to walk around with their kids or to stay seated in the gymnasium.

RECREATIONAL GIRLS

The recreational program is for girls aged 5 to 18 years-old that wish to learn the sport of gymnastics. In addition to learning gymnastics movements, the recreational program aims to develop the athlete’s motor skills, agility, spatial orientation and self-esteem. All gymnasts train on 5 apparatuses: vault, bars, beam, floor and trampoline.

For the Fall session, we offer 3 distinct levels, depending on the number of sessions completed by the gymnast.

  • Beginners
  • Intermediates
  • Initiation à la compétition
Level Prerequisites

PARKOUR (MIXED)

The Parkour program aims to develop jumps and flips to pass through different obstacles. The objective of parkour is to pass through a circuit containing many obstacles, with stylish moves and as fast as possible. This class is open to girls and boys aged 5 to 16 years old. Depending on the athlete’s age, we offer two types of classes:

  • Parkour 5 to 7 years-old: Classes of an hour (1h00)
  • Parkour 8 years-old and older: Classes of an hour and a half (1h30)

Recreational Girls LEVELS

Every class is adapted to the group’s level by the coach. Therefore, if a gymnast progresses faster than another, the coach will ensure that there are stations adapted to both gymnasts in the circuit, so each athlete can progress at their own rhythm.

  • Beginners

This first level of recreational gymnastics is for gymnasts who have done less than 3 sessions of gymnastics. At this level, gymnasts learn the fundamental bases of gymnastics, which will be necessary for their advancement in the sport, all while having fun. Here are the 2 types of beginner classes we offer:

    • Beginners 5 to 7 years-old, which lasts an hour (1h00)
    • Beginners 8 years-old and older, which lasts an hour and a half (1h30)
  • Intermediates

This second level of gymnastics is for athletes who have done more than 3 sessions of gymnastics. In this level, gymnasts perfect the basics which they learned in the previous level, develop their strength and agility, while also learning new, more complex movements. We offer 2 types of intermediate classes, depending on the athlete’s age:

    • Intermediates 5 to 7 years old, classes last an hour and a half (1h30)
    • Intermediates 8 years and older, classes last two hours (2h00)
  • Initiation à la compétition

We also offer a class named Initiation à la compétition, for gymnasts of the Intermediate level who wish to eventually continue gymnastics at a competitive level. In addition to learning more advanced movements, this course aims at developing strength, technique and artistic, three essential parts of competitive gymnastics. The class lasts two hours (2h00) and is twice a week.

Our Recreational Coaching Team

Our recreational coaches and assistant coaches are mostly young athletes who have trained at the GYMIBIK facility.

Coaches participate in a specialized training program offered by the Gymnastic Federation which teaches them the fundamentals of coaching children in the sport of gymnastics.

Coaches also meet regularly with GYMIBIK supervisors in order to review and learn any appropriate strategies.  Along with the hands on gymnastics training, our coaches also meet with a professional social worker and consultant in order to develop their skills in relation to child care and team building.
